Acting Membership

In order to become an acting member of SWMTC and take part in our productions you will need to do a “new member audition” so that we can assess whether your vocal ability and acting skills meet our required standard. We usually invite potential new members to join us for a rehearsal at the start of our production season in late September/early October, although it is sometimes possible to join after this time. You can meet everyone and get a feel for the Company before auditioning the following week. We will ask you to sing a song of your choice (preferably a musical theatre number) and perform a short monologue. If you are successful you will be invited to join the Company.

You can remain a member of SWMTC for as long as you wish. Acting members pay £25 a year as a membership subscription, which goes towards our running costs. You do not have to perform in every production we undertake but can still remain a member as long as you continue paying your yearly membership.

If you decide to perform in a particular production, you will be required to pay a show production fee, which is usually £45 but may vary depending on the show. This is in addition to the annual membership subscription.

If you wish to be considered for a principal part in one of our shows you will need to audition for the Production Team for that show. For joint productions with our Youth Group ensemble members may also need to audition at the discretion of the Production Team.

Friends Membership

Friends and supporters of SWMTC are non-performing members and are asked to make a minimum annual subscription of £15. Many Friends help with set-building, backstage, technical or front of house roles and we are very grateful for the support they give to the Company.

Honorary Life Members

Honorary Life Membership is awarded to those members that have made an outstanding contribution to the Company.

Volunteers

We are always interested in hearing from anyone who would like to get involved with the Company. We rely on a small army of volunteers to help us during show week with hair, makeup, running the bar, selling programmes, stewarding, organising the raffle etc so please do get in touch if you can spare us a little of your time.
