SWMTC Centenary Production

Welcome to the Kinky Boots page. I am thrilled to be directing this show in our centenary year. It is just the kind of uplifting, heartwarming and, at times, hilarious journey that I hope you will all want to be part of. I am looking forward to welcoming back existing SWMTC members and to welcoming many new faces to our company.
Based on true events, this big hearted musical tells the story of two people whom fate throws together. An unlikely pairing, Charlie is a factory owner struggling to save his family business and Lola is a nightclub performer looking for answers. The unexpected pair learn to embrace their differences and create a line of sturdy stilettos unlike any the world has ever seen. In the end, their most sensational achievement is their friendship. With an original score by Cyndi Lauper, this show is truly uplifting and full of joy.
I am delighted to confirm that Paul Garner will be returning as Musical Director, Louise Constable-Maxwell as Assistant Director and Siobhan Austin-Guest will once again be our choreographer for this fabulous production.

PRINCIPAL ROLES
We will be looking to cast the following:
CHARLIE PRICE - Fourth generation ‘son’ in the family business, a hero hiding under a victim’s mantle. Rock belt.
LOLA/SIMON - a heterosexual cross-dresser with a killer voice and winning ways.
NICOLA - Charlie’s long term girlfriend. Pop voice.
LAUREN - Beautiful, strong and funny working class girl, falls in love with Charlie. Belt and Pop.
DON - Lola’s nemesis. Burly, hyper masculine factory worker
PAT - Officious office manager with a wild side. Lola’s love interest.
TRISH - Factory worker, with husband and kids to worry over.
GEORGE - Factory manager.
MR PRICE - Charlie’s Father.
HARRY - Contemporary of Charlie’s, successful, self aware and confident.
THE ANGELS - drag performers, this ain’t a job for wallflowers!
Plus other named parts and copious opportunities for ensemble to get involved.
Key dates
All week day evening rehearsals take place at the Baptist Hall in Saffron Walden. It is at the top of the High Street on the corner of Audley Road. The entrance is on the side of the church on Audley Road. We rehearse in the upstairs hall.
Sunday rehearsals are held at Ashdon Village Hall, CB10 2HA

Rehearsals every Monday and Wednesday from 8pm - 10.15pm. Normally principals on Mondays and full cast on Wednesdays until January. Then onwards full cast Mondays and Wednesdays.
